The primary definition and function of science is fortune telling. A scientist can tell you what an animal will likely do in a given situation. A scientist can tell you when you are most likely to die. A scientist can achieve wonders. A scientist can, using logical steps, build something that can survive in outer-space, something no amount of faith or will can do.

If south africa wishes to have order, there must be a brief period of terror. They must reintroduce the death penalty and have it strike quickly. Death should come no later than a week after conviction, and emergency system should be devised to hand out several thousand death sentences. A few innocent people may die. It is sad, but they are a sacrifice. They will commemorated and celebrated as heroes by those who executed them. After order is restored, less harsh methods can be used, but for now, things have spiraled so far out of control that incredibly harsh measures must be use to maintain any real social structure. In south africa, the abolishment of the death penalty was a sign of ineffectuality, not humanity.

God Bless the Pope
We owe the catholic church in ways that we don't think about. The extended campaign against cousin marriage near the end of the middle ages may have been one of the primary reasons for european advancement. It prevented factionalism, family fueds, and a very large and powerful extended families. It allowed individuals to exist within a smaller and less powerful family unit, which allowed such things as semi-objectivity, ascertaining quality, a limitation to corruption, and the birth of patriotism.
Shatter
It is at this moment more clear to me than ever that the only way to create a democratic, just, and civil society is to break apart anything resembling a family, tribe or clan. They automatically increase the liklihood of corruption, nepotism, favoritism, and systematic misjudgement of achievements and character.
Nothing is more loathsome than a self-involved artist who turns into a cry-baby.
Although these early events caused Emin to be well known in art circles, she was largely unknown by the public until she appeared on a Channel 4 television programme in 1997. It was an ostensibly serious debate show about that year's Turner Prize, and Emin appeared completely drunk (she has said this was caused by painkillers she was taking for a broken finger), swearing, insulting the other panel members and saying that she wanted to go home to her mum (she then left).
On 24 May 2004, a fire in a Momart storage warehouse in East London destroyed many works from the Saatchi collection, including Emin's Everyone I have ever slept with 1963–95, The Last Thing I Said Is Don't Leave Me Here and The Hut. Emin spoke out angrily against the general public lack of sympathy, and even amusement, at the loss of the artworks in the fire. However, she also put the loss in perspective, commenting: "I'm also upset about those people whose wedding got bombed last week [in Iraq], and people being dug out from under 400ft of mud in the Dominican Republic."
Correction: Nothing is more loathsome than an artist.
"These summits are a waste of time. All anyone ever does is talk. Sometimes, sitting there, listening to all the talk, I think I will scream."
-President El Hadj Omar Bongo of Gabon.
If anyone would know about how ineffectual talk is, it would be an african president. There is no need to 'raise conciousness'. There is a need for action. Knowing about these things and doing nothing is a greater crime than total ignorance. For now, I am a criminal, as is she, but I plan on reform.

The artist needs to think less about himself and of himself. The focus on the self is repulsive and self-indulgent. The public does not, or should not, want to know any more about you than neccessary to enjoy your works.

Clarification:
Gonzo journalism means the journalist writes about what they do while engaged and participating in an event. Regular journalism is more conventional, easier to follow, and hides its biases more cleverly by alledging objectivity. In any case, journalism does not mean writing exclusively about oneself.
There are times when the journalist should be invisible. What is said to them should be struck from the record. They should be the eyes and ears of the reader, not an indepedent body in of themselves.

I've Been Tired
I am tired of this slouching, smirking journalism. It is the bastard child of "gonzo journalism" and "post-modernism" and it is entirely unwelcome. Instead of being involved in an event while reporting on it, one is terminally uninvolved and disconnected from the event while reporting on oneself. This journalism refuses to offer context or compassion. Instead, it exists to talk about the journalist rather than the event. The journalist shows the reader in a series of unsubtle asides that they are "above" whatever the subject is. Every article is marred by juvenile distain or a helpless shrugging of shoulders. The article oozes with ignorance and self-importance. "My" and "I" come up with greater frequency than any other words, and the reader walks away having learned nothing other than the trite 'hipness' of the journalist.
Everyone has to be clever. Everyone has to be cool. Enthusiasm and curiosity are decidely 'un-cool'. Everything that is even remotely related to the subject is added, bulking up the already contentless piece to still more ridiculous proportions. Research is entirely foreign to them, and the persons they deign to talk to are unlikely to be quoted correctly if they are quoted at all. After all, they are only the backdrop to real attraction: the one journalist show. It is post-modern in that there is no plot and no theme. There is no information to be had and no lesson to be learned. There is only a droning on about the self, a forced sharing of boring childhood stories, and constant mentions of the excitement that is the day-to-day life of the journalist who is obviously too busy to to devote more than a pittance to the alleged topic.
I complain, but my heart is filled with sympathy, not hatred. These lost souls have nothing to bring to the table. They have no eyes or ears, but they do have a mouth. And so the mouth talks about the only thing it knows, the only thing it can know, the only thing it will ever know. Itself.

Debate. That's the only way people know how to reaffirm that they're alive — by debating. In all it's forms. People spend their whole lives debating: we fight about who's right and who's wrong, we fight ourselves, we fight each other, we fight death, we fight over beliefs, we fight over fights. We believe that to stop debating — in any fashion — is to stop living and give up.

Everyone is trapped in an infinite positive feedback loop. They self select other people who look, talk, act, and think like them. They make superficial noises about diversity, but it's not the color of one's skin or even the religion they adhere to that makes the difference.
A simple idea
Those charged with piloting the ship of state will inevitably have conflicts of interest between private investments and public good. So why not propose that upon reaching office, they must give away all thier assets to the state? One could argue that this would make them more suceptible to bribes, but I disagree. If they are given a very tight stipend, and must live very modestly, than any corruption or bribery would be immediately detected, as it would be known that they did not have enough money to buy a car, or take a golfing trip, or hold stock options.

Everything is old and useless. You are old and useless. You entered into contracts you were not able to do so legally. You borrowed money and gave them assurances that we would pay it back. Forgive our ingratitude, but we will not. We do not recognize your authority or this burden.
It is not easy being anything but self-absorbed and lazy. It is difficult to be anything else, and one's very existence will inspire hate and self-justification.
After years of lage advancements in robotics, the first real "humanoid" robot was designed. It was based on the human brain, and why not? It works pretty well. The huma brain is capable of calculations as large and as fast as any machine, just not every human brain. So, they produced a robot with a mechanical human brain.
It worked exceedingly poorly. After about 140 years, the robots all commited suicide within days of each other. Something new was learned. The human mind cannot survive for more than 140 years.

I wonder if we will look back on this time period as one of decadent insanity. This world makes sense to me, but I don't like it.

Some ideas are so toxic that the creators of them must be neutralized.
"Comrade mensheviks, we do not mind you being around petrograd. You will not be harmed, but we have no intention of sharing any state power with you."
That's what lenin said before that psycho bitch shot him.

We can reconcile human freedoms with national self determination. People can be allowed to have whatever society they desire, but we must make it possible for people to leave.
The north koreans have a right to have whatever government they right, but each and every citizen of the country should have a right to leave, who is not facing crimes that are internationally condemned.
Imagine the iranian islamic theocracy if all the women were free to leave for europe or the united states and live how they wished. We must give people this choice, at the expense of all else.

The reason we are outraged by the crimes commited by our soldiers is simple: The enemy is not acting in our name. The brutal crimes they commit reflect on them as monsters, not us. We have no responsibilty, liability, ultimately, control over what they do. Our taxes pay no part in funding them (at least, not anymore), and we can give them no orders. Our soldiers and our government however....
The difference
The difference between libertarians and capitalists are many. Libertarianism is a belief with a considerable body of evidence. They are usually friendly and open to debate. Many reputable and optimistic individuals are libertarians.
Objectivism is an evil cult. It is a closed system that is not falsifiable, does not respect human rights, and is only a complex version of 'might makes right.'

A 2 bit analysis
The problem with a war such as the one in iraq is that it lends itself to excuses. There are no trenches and no flags.
Those who support such a war point out that the enemy frequently uses civilians as shields, disguises themselves as civilians, and starts firefights in urban areas. If american troops kill civilians while engaged in combat with iraqi irregulars, that is unfortunate, but understandable. One can tactically criticize them, accusing them of being wreckless, not even trying to avoid civilian casualties, and so on, but at the end of the day, they were fighting to preserve their own lives against an enemy that was certainly trying to take them.
What is completely inexcusable, and a war crime beyond all doubt, is the murder of civilians. Murders are defined as killing persons who are not a threat. When people are rounded up and killed, systematically or in an act of wanton violence, it is a war crime. Trying to confuse the first set of circumstances with the second is a trick used by dishonest reactionaries to mask crimes. Contrast that with radical leftists, who condemn soldiers roundly, regardless of circumstances.
I believe this experience has been... instructive. After this misadventure, the options will be scaled back to indirect support, and the US will suffer a prestige hit.

So the three witches chanted. A hunchback came along, and heard them chant a few times more, then added 'Thursday'. The witches were delighted, and cured him of his hump. Later, a cripple came by, heard them chant, then added 'Friday'. The witches became angry at him and cursed him with leperosy, in addition to his feeble legs. The pain of both disabilities combined was so great that he died within six months.
Why that way? Whay not punish the first and not the second?

It is very important not to threaten people on the internet if you are not an anonymous person. The internet lends itself to bullying far too easily. I have given and recieved well over a dozen death threats, yet I do not live in fear, nor do I plan on hurting anyone. One feels absolutely invincible when sitting in their chair at home, writing in anger. If you are a person of any note, what you say on the internet matters. It is real.

Hair
I am a liar, in many cases. I like to provide people with a coherent narrative for my actions so that they feel comforted. I don't want them to feel that I am strange. So I lie. I offer up explanations for my behaviors that will be eagerly snapped up to form the myth of the self. For instance: I cut my own hair because it's suprisingly resiliant to my crude efforts, and I can never explain how I want my own hair cut. When, once every 6 months or so, I do want my hair fixed, the barber can tell that it's all fucked up. They went to a cosmetology school. I'm not going to be able to sneak my crooked and asymetrical cuts past them. So I tell them I was backpacking for several months and had to cut my own hair. It's interesting. It adds a bit of flavor to me. I know enough to lie convincingly if need be, though I never need to. It is accepted without reservation as a reasonable human endevor, and they go to work cutting my hair in the stupid bowl I get every single time, no matter what instruction I give.
We speak different languages. No matter what I say, it is a bowl cut. It looks ugly. It looks acceptable in a few weeks. I don't want my hair long, but I can never have it cut short in a manner that looks good. There are books with hairstyles, but they all look the same to me. Some day I will go in with a picture printed out and say....

I want to look like him.

Some women are trusted friends and comrades. Others are merely meat. Both have a purpose, though it would not bother me one whit if the second group was slaughtered.
Many of the homeless are mentally ill, yet our mental hospitals are so dysfunctional that I honestly do not think it would be better to institutionlise them, at least not in our current regime.
I have been writing for myself for so long that I no longer have any desire to be read by anyone else. There is enough life for me to explore without every encountering another human being.
People embarrass humanity. At least the simple have the virtue of knowing that they are simple. They do not read books, they do not like to think, and they throw themselves into labor and passive consumption. It is not a life I would choose, but there is an honesty about it.
I am sickened by the pretentious and ill-informed, incorrectly confident and utterly disconnected from reality. I do say I am better than them, not because I know more or have learned to mask my ego better. I say I am better because I am still curious and open, investigating all sides, taking ideas and lessons from all sources, learning even from those who have nothing to teach.
Next to curiosity, a lack of confidence and a lack of fear are the most important. To admit failure, to admit death and to still be unafraid is a kind of bravery.
We all die. Most people deal with this by removing this information from thier minds, living each day as if they are immortal. When time catches up with them, they are bewildered and undignified. Some cobble together a rushed acceptence of death, while others are terrified and angry until the end.
By far the most popular method of nullifying death is religion. Religion in this case being used to describe anything that suggests a post body-death existence. This allows one to reject death as a real event. Rather, they pretend they are moving on to somewhere else, through some personal or institutional virtue. Evidence for these theories being true is spotty, at best.
People have a blanket of comfortable illusions that they are loathe to remove.
The more ignoble the birth, the more glorious the accomplishments.
Adapt or Die. Both are reasonable choices.

I am both attracted and repelled to the fopperies of Latin and Greek. The truth is, the greco-roman mythology is no more sophisticated than any other. Most comic books out today are constructed with more thought and care concerning the human and the divine than the old tales. The attractive aspect is that they would appear to offer us all a common base. The downside is that they allow fools to sprinkle their language with Latin and Greek phrases as well as references that could just as easily be expressed in a native tongue.

The disaster of the Total State
It is important that there be freedoms to produce and create beyond the state, both for the individuals and for the government. Who would wish to claim kafka or van gogh at the time of creation? Who now can claim the whole of society favors marquis de sade or michel duchamp? These freedoms are important to all, to give the individual freedom, and to give the government the ability to not endorse productions, though really, by allowing it to exist, it is an endoresment, but if the laws are written cleverly enough, this can be obfuscated.

Some day, when I'm awfully low,
When the world is cold,
I will feel a glow just thinking of you...
And the way you look tonight.
pan to a womans body, throat sliced. A few other cuts.
Yes you're lovely, with your smile so warm
Turns up the mouth
And your cheeks so soft,
There is nothing for me but to love you,
And the way you look tonight.
With each word your tenderness grows,
Tearing my fear apart...
And that laugh that wrinkles your nose,
pushes up and cuts off the nose.
It touches my foolish heart.
Lovely ... Never, ever change.
Keep that breathless charm.
Won't you please arrange it ?
moves the body
'Cause I love you ... Just the way you look tonight.
Mm, Mm, Mm, Mm,
Just the way you look to-night.

We are a society of children. It would seem that even that which is so self evident as to require no explanation, in fact, does.
Everyone must be made to believe they do not comprehend very much. Fewer stupid answers and more smart questions would be the fruit of such a policy.

It is crippling to see, to hear, and to understand twice. To see both the exact moment and the obvious reasons, and the history of the event. When someone speaks, expresses an opinion, I see both the immediate thought and circumstances, and the entirity of human existence. Abuse as dominance. Abuse as the extermination of foriegn genes. Abuse as a cultural element of acceptance and discipline. Power and dictatorship in the individual. Cruelty as purely human. Racism as a function of tribalism. Racism as extrapolation on individual experience. Racism as an explanation. An excuse for everyone. It gives those that are the object of racism the excuse to fail at life. Failure as defined as having a short, unhappy life, without education or oportunity for change. It gives the perpetrators of racism a scapegoat for everything. It allows them to live in a fantasy world.
Racism is a mistake because it destroys and distorts everyone invovled. It prevents people from looking critically at themselves. All they can do is rabidly attack. The black man is destroying our culture. The white man is destroying our culture. You have no culture. You have your group illusions. Stand as a humans, or we will make you fall.

What we must do is support dictators. Not on the basis of friendliess to our businesses, or in the name of fighting communism or terrorism or whatever the situation seems to require. Rather, on the basis of human rights, human freedoms, and rational policies. Social, economic, and the like.

These most repulsive of worlds. Schools, Prisons, and Mental Hospitals. They will be the hardest fights, becaue those trapped within them are powerless. In fact, they may be impossible.
A large number of people, myself included, are quite concerned about mathematics. They are intimidating because they are absolute, even more so than science. Post modernists especially hate mathematics. Who started the second world war is a question with many answers, most with some grain of truth, though not the total perspective. In mathematics, the formulas work every time. They are absolutely and irrefutably correct. There is no room for negotiation. There is no way to deconstruct 2+2=4 in such a way that it equals 5.

A not widely believed fact
Some persons and organizations want to be persecuted. They need it, they feed on it. By being under attack, by generating outrage and action, they remain powerful and relevant. The most tragic element is that most of the time it springs from genuine persecution and discrimination at one point in time which may or may not exist in the present. So perhaps we don't need singularity and unity. Perhaps we need division and antagonism. But there is too much of it right now.
I do love this country, as I love every country, as I love everything in this world. However, I'm not afraid to destroy what I love in order to create something superior.

Everything is a document, everything is a perspective. When you write, you don't persuade or enchant me, you reveal yourself. I am not accepting your ideas. I'm analyzing your mind, your society, your world. I'm searching for patterns. I want to know what you think before you say it.
On average, females are not as proficient at most sports as males are. However, this really only matters on the professional level of sports. In the amateur level, there is not such a glut of talent that the 'best' amateur sports team would be comprised of males exclusively. Even at the professional level, there are exceptional female athletes who would be capable of reasonably competing with males.

Spirituality must be individual.
One must remove the entire structure.
No prophets, no priests.
Just the books, the people, and the god.
Every man must be his own theologian. So luther said. And so a sect was named for him. And now there are lutheran ministers and lutheran bishops. A lutheran high council determines official lutheran positions.
Religion must be anarchy. We must stand as individuals. It is not easy, being alone, but to have any chance of redemption we must. No churches or cathedrals. No mosques or temples. No bishops or mullahs. No popes or imams.
It is not, never was evil. Nothing is evil. It is just no longer neccessary.

We must communicate with ants. If we could form effective communication, offer the species the proper phermones for an alliance, we could change our world so much more effectively. The deal would be simple. We would use our modern methods to provide them with all the food they would ever need so they wouldn't have to forage, and they would provide us with thier construction talents. Imagine ants laying fiberoptic cables. Imagine a tiny computer for the queen. Imagine 500 billion ants converging on one construction site to build a tower. Imagine boundaries. Have ants in the house, but make it clear to what is off limits. Glorious.
The one danger is that once we taught them our ways, they would no longer need us.

Ants are Ants
Ants are beatiful because they are ants. They are a perfect collective. It is not a monarchy or any other human system. Human words for social organization are of little use in describing them.
False Desires, Transcendentalism, Antss
When a person takes crystal meth, they oftentimes become psychotic while under the influence of it. This may lead to homocide, suicide, harm of others, property damage, and so on. These desires are not real. They are generated by artificially dumping chemicals into the body.
A female's desire to have a baby is usually the same thing. It is an impulse. A biological relic of natural selection.
Natural selection is so brutal because it is the only way things could have been. When life was first created, anything that had a survival advantage would be selected for in the long run, over a span of millions of years.
We should question our desire to pass on our genes. Our genes define us, but for millions of years, they have also controlled us. In many people, they still do. Using logic, we have a chance to partially transcend our most instinctual and primitive desires. We can lock them away. We can question, challenge, and overcome them.

People have the right to be seperate from one another. Love your neighbors, but choose your neighborhood. Take for example , the "white prom" and the "black prom" controversy a few years back in the mists of time. Both have a right to exist. The obvious thing to do would be to have no proms, or three proms. A black, a white, and a both. One could say go to the multi-racial prom then go to the white prom or black prom, or go to one all night, or go to all three. Race is real, but most of what is defined as a racial stereotype (which is rarely completely false) is a cultural construct. A white child raised in a black culture will have far more in common with black children raised in a black culture than a white child raised in a non-black culture.
