We can reconcile human freedoms with national self determination. People can be allowed to have whatever society they desire, but we must make it possible for people to leave.

The north koreans have a right to have whatever government they right, but each and every citizen of the country should have a right to leave, who is not facing crimes that are internationally condemned.

Imagine the iranian islamic theocracy if all the women were free to leave for europe or the united states and live how they wished. We must give people this choice, at the expense of all else.
